Race Notes:
Trimble Grabs First URSS Win

July 24, 2010 Calhan, Colorado: The United Rebel Sprint Series made their second appearance at the tight quarter-mile bullring at El Paso County Speedway on Saturday with 19 teams. Rebels treated fans to a great show.

Woodland Park’s Cole Wood led to the green but the caution flew for a three-car tangle. The incident ended the night for Blake Bogenhagen, Levi Wisecup, Sam Wisecup and Tara Jo Christie. On the restart, Woods bolted to the lead with Patrick Bourke, Smokey Fairbank, Mike Parker and Nick Haygood rounding out the Top Five. Adam Trimble made his way past Haygood to take fifth on lap two. Trimble turned up the heat on fourth-place Parker as the pair battled for several laps until Parker stopped in turns one and two to bring out the second caution. Wood again jumped to the lead with Bourke in his tracks. On lap eight, Bourke’s night ended to bring the third caution. Wood led Trimble, Fairbank, Herbert and Haygood. Herbert worked into the Top Five from tenth by lap nine. Up front, Trimble continued to pressure Wood until lap 14 when Wood brought the caution. Herbert shot past Fairbank to take runner-up. The green flag was short-lived as Mike Parker halted.

Trimble pulled to lead Herbert, Fairbank, Anderson and Haygood. A resurgent Ty Williams had quietly worked from 14th to sixth by lap 16. Williams turned up the heat on Haygood as the pair battled several laps before taking the spot for good on lap 20. As the checkers fell, Adam Trimble picked up his first career URSS win over Herbert, Fairbank, Anderson and Ty Williams, who was Keizer Aluminum Wheels Hard Charger by coming from 14th.

El Paso County Speedway announced that URSS would again hit the track on Saturday, August 7.
