Only a second in his heat kept Royal Jones from perfection as the veteran racer collected his first winged 305 sprint car feature win of 2005 Saturday night at The Speedway of Southern New Mexico. He won both the dash and feature with Mike Wells second in both events. M Wells also ran second in his heat race. Billy Roy Harris beat Jones in their heat race and ran third in the feature action.

With several of the top area teams in Tucson AZ running a special unwinged two day show, the winged 305 sprint car count was down to 17 cars. Jay Jonas won heat 1. Young Laboe Labrado won heat 2. Dirt modified racers B Harris and Jones were 1-2 in heat 3.

The feature action was thrilling as Jones posted his first winged sprint car win of 2005.
