Race Notes:
5/20/2005 Attica,OH DAVID HARRISON (Ludwig 10)

“I would really like to thank a lot of people for helping to put me here in victory lane tonight," said David Harrison. "Particularly my crew who put this car together over the last day."

Harrison had just dominated the first ever visit of “The Engine Pro, Sprints On Dirt presented by Total Seal” sprint car series to Attica Raceway Park.

“When Jason (Fausey) called last night and asked if we would consider racing with the series at Attica, the car was sitting practically bare. I called the crew and we worked late into the morning, then took all day today off to complete the car. This really feels great."

With 22 cars lined up to take the green flag, Gregg Dalman and David Harrison made up the front row. Harrison used his track experience to rocket his car into the lead coming out of turn two with Dalman reluctantly falling into second at the completion of the first lap. The first caution waved as lap 2 was completed as Jamie Martin lost the handle in turn one and came to rest in the middle of the track. Quick to restart, Martin fell into position at the back of the pack. On the restart, Todd Heller got by Dalman to claim second as the duo chased Harrison in vain. On lap five, Tim Hunter overtook Dalman and began to close in on Heller for second. The four ran nose to tail until lap thirteen when caution waved again for debris on the front stretch.

The field formed behind Harrison for the restart with Heller, Hunter, Mike Brecht, and Dalman making up the top five. Kyle Patrick, Tim Norman, Nick Mulheim, Ben Rutan and Matt Alloway rounded out the top ten with J.R. Stewart and Doug Stanley following closely as the green waved once again. Harrison resumed the lead as Heller mounted a challenge entering turn one but Harrison quickly took command as the pair roared down the back stretch.

Mike Brecht tried to overtake Hunter on lap fifteen but the hard charging Brecht lost the handle entering turn three bringing out the caution flag once again.

The restart on lap fifteen once again found Harrison in command with Heller and Hunter chasing the race long leader. Dalman and Kyle Patrick rounded out the top five. By lap twenty, Tim Norman had moved into fourth with Patrick following relegating Dalman to sixth. Caution flew for the last time as the 48 of Mike Burkin erupted in a cloud of smoke as he passed the flag stand. The large deposit of fluid left on the track quickly dissipated and the field reformed for a charge to the checkers.

Harrison was never seriously challenged the remainder of the distance as the race resumed on lap twenty two and took the checkers over Heller, Norman, Hunter, and Ben Rutan with Dalman and Patrick close behind.
