George Returns To Victory Lane
by Eric Westendorf
July 27, 2007 Sarver, Pennsylvania) The Commercial Truck & Trailer Sprint cars pushed off with three-time winner Rod George of Kittanning on the pole. George was on cruise control as it appeared the feature would be wire to wire. George had extended his lead to a full straightaway as he deftly made his way through traffic until Dan Kuriger of Freedom, came to stop between turns one and two to bring out the only caution of the race on lap 23.
The caution allowed Ed Lynch of Apollo to pull within two car lengths of George for a three lap dash to the checkered flag. Lynch started tenth and was up to fifth on lap 16. By lap 21, he was in second and it appeared as though the lap 23 caution had set up a classic battle between the two elite veterans of the CT&T Sprint division. But Lynch’s car did not take off exiting turn two and George cruised to his fourth victory of the 2007 season,
Lynch had to settle for second. Budweiser point leader and reigning champion Kevin Schaeffer of Kittanning was close behind in third. Veteran driver Ralph Spithaler of Evans City had his best outing of 2007 by finishing fourth, while Mike Lutz of Mercer drove the Martha Dionise car to its first Top Five of the season.
Up next at the Action Track is the long awaited, first running of of 2007 for the School Bus and Kid’s Bike races on Tuesday, July 31. The “Summer Vacation” School Bus Races and Kids Night Bike Races begin at 7:00pm. An exhibition Quad race has also been added to Tuesday Night’s schedule. Fab Four Racing will be back in action on Friday, August 3 with Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts Night, and an autograph session with Late Model and Modified drivers.Lernerville Speedways sits at 313 North Pike Road, Sarver,PA 16055 (724) 353.1511 (www.lernerville.com)
